When is the Best Time to Book Maternity Photos?

There’s something so special about this season - the quiet anticipation, the growing bump, the way everything begins to shift as you prepare to meet your baby. If you’re based in Ipswich or nearby Brisbane and wondering when to book your maternity photos, timing really does make all the difference.

I recommend booking your maternity session for between 34–36 weeks.

At this stage, your bump is beautifully round and prominent, but you’re usually still feeling comfortable enough to move, relax, and truly enjoy the experience. It’s that sweet spot where your body has changed, but you’re not quite at the “ready for baby any day now” stage.

If there’s a chance your baby may arrive early, I suggest planning a little sooner - around 30–34 weeks - just to be safe.

Studio or outdoor — what’s right for you?

I offer both studio maternity sessions in Ipswich and outdoor sunset sessions in beautiful locations across Ipswich and surrounding Brisbane areas, so you can choose what feels most like you.

  • Studio sessions are soft, intimate, and timeless - perfect for a relaxed, classic feel with a focus on connection.
  • Outdoor sessions are held at sunset, creating a more natural, storytelling feel with beautiful golden light.

Both options are designed to feel calm, unhurried, and focused on capturing this fleeting season in an honest and heartfelt way.

A little bonus for planning ahead

If you choose to book your maternity session together with your newborn session, you’ll save $200.

Many of my Ipswich and Brisbane clients love documenting both the anticipation and those first precious days with their baby. It also makes the whole process feel seamless, knowing everything is already organised for you.
